SWGP 2019 - A Fresh Start

Ian, the Director of SWGP introduces us to some changes taking place in 2019.

The South West Gospel Partnership was founded in 2008, along similar lines to other Gospel Partnerships across the UK. We were formed by local church leaders in the region who saw a need and an opportunity to work together for the sake of the gospel, collaborating on training, events and resources, and providing a structure for local church leaders to meet together for mutual encouragement and further input.

One of the clearest fruits of this has been the Ministry Training Course, which has seen several hundred men and women equipped to understand the Bible better and teach it others.

Over the past ten years, the Gospel Partnership has grown organically and added more events and ministry strands to what we do. However, the organisational structure has remained the same. And so we have recently been undergoing some changes as we look to become a more effective organisation for the sake of gospel ministry in the South West.

On 23rd January we held a Re-Launch meeting at St Bart’s in Bath. At the meeting we laid out some of what has been happening in the past six months, including:

  • Appointing a part-time Operations Manager
  • Honing and confirming our Vision and Aims and the documents that support these
  • Changing our governance structure from a Trust Board to a Steering Committee
  • Changing our membership model
  • Rebranding and commissioning a new website

It was an exciting morning, and we look forward to 2019 with renewed vigour to see the fruit of these changes in the life of the Partnership!

Our key ministry areas and many of the events we run will remain the same. But we think with a clearer vision of what we are seeking to do and what it means to join the Partnership, we will be able to do these things more effectively.

All of these changes are with the aim of being more effective for the gospel: seeing churches more effectively strengthened in the gospel, more gospel churches planted around our region, and more of the 3 million-plus who live here reached with the gospel for the glory of God.

We hope you will find these developments encouraging, and that they will result in us being able to better serve and assist you and your church for the sake of the gospel in our region.
